Some good suggestions there, I’ve had some similar ideas that will be introduced too. Levels and upgrades are coming in the next update, along with character selection and creation. I’ll be adding the first new game mode, where you play as one duellist who has to get as far as they can through a series of 100 random opponents (if you make it to the end, the stage will have a permanent statue of your winning duellist in the background every time you play it after). It’s the simplest gameplay mode but it’s a good way to test the levels and upgrades.

You’ll be able to upgrade guns, but duel rules traditionally require guns to be matched pairs, so any upgrades you make will apply to both you and your opponent. There will be a few different types of guns (more accurate but less powerful, etc), and depending on the circumstances either you or your opponent gets to choose which to use.

I love the international map idea, that’s really cool. My current plan is for the game to take place in a large city, where you start out duelling criminals in back streets and have to work your way up until you can afford to play against the upper-class gentlemen and ladies for real money. The idea is that the lower levels are more like the wild west where duels could happen anywhere, but the upper levels are more “classic” duelling with more formal rules. I hadn’t though about an international element, but that’s definitely interesting too.

Thanks again for the feedback, lots of cool stuff there : )

Comment on The Duellists: Alpha 2 by Andreja Popovik /?p=1244#comment-249 Andreja Popovik Thu, 05 Sep 2013 09:45:54 +0000 /?p=1244#comment-249 Just a few ideas:

-Upgrades: Bought with the coins- Clothes that give you more hearts (armor), faster aiming guns (turn aim to green faster)

-Characters: Choose your country and your characters and form your team of duelists (some have more health, some have faster aim, some are tall and fat (easy target), some are short and thin (hard to hit)

-Locations: This is basically something to do between duels which is very important for user experience. A house where your gentlemen gather and drink, talk and smoke and a map screen on which you travel (traveling costs coins)- When you arrive on a different place the area changes(desert with cactus for example) so do the enemies. They’re not all supposed to be British or French gentlemen, they can be cowboys, Mexican bandits, Spanish conquistadors depending on the area you’re in.

-Achievments: Coin rewards for every leg-shot, arm-shot, bullet collision, head-shot, early shooting-cheating etc. Coming with a flashy animation and cute names such as: arm shot – ,,ARMED HIM!” :D , head shot – ,,Headed this way”, you get the point :)

Hope you liked my ideas as much as I liked your game. If you want more of them or any kind of help, find me up on facebook.
